What I want is for every voter to have a state-issued, photo ID selected from a limited number of possibility: Drivers License, or Official State ID, or that's all. No provisional votes. You have your ID or you do not. The ID is what allows you into the polling place. No ID, no entry. You bring the ID to the polling place, there is a computer into which the ID number is keyed, you are asked for your DOB and if that is what's on file you get to vote. Otherwise, no. There are no hanging chads. There is no "signature match" (which totally changed the outcome of the 2020 election in Georgia). There is an ID. And you have or you don't. IF you don't you can't vote because you aren't responsible enough to vote. If you lose your ID/DL 10 minutes before time to vote, tough shit. You aren't allowed into the poll. (If you drove to the polling place without a drivers license, you should get a ticket, too). Any CPA can provide a detailed set of procedures for counting AND BALANCING the votes from the machines, and every tally must be posted online before the election can be certified. Furthermore, any person can bring up an image of their ballot online using their voter ID as a key. And they can view whewre each items appeared on the count sheet where it was summarize. From their, mouse clicks will take you to the final tally where it appears. Quickbooks can do, so you the companies that do this. It isn't rocket science. In business, the objective is to eliminate exceptions. Every possible incident is handled efficiently. And most importantly, we have unique identifiers for account codes, people, transactions, every person who touched a transaction, everything. We know who did what. Signatures, at this time, are pretty meaningless and have no critical role. They're just for show. Except in Georgia -- where one year they get 4% rejections and when they really need the votes downtown, they get 0.1% rejections on signature match -- enough to change the election outcome (some of us call that cheating, I call it stealing an election). This isn't complicated. We need to get lawyers out of the picture, and more people who actually know how to secure money. Votes, money, same thing.
