If you are responding to a comment, click on "Public Reply". When the comment is finally posted, you will see, who wrote and then a number, the number is their last comment. If you click on that number, you get back to the previous comment. If more than one comment replied to the original post, over to the right you will see "Read Replies". Click on that and the thread pops up, so that you can see just the comments replying to that specific thread. The second way to post a comment is to start at the top of the site and click on "Post Message". This will start a new thread. Once you get comfortable with the format, it's actually easier to follow along here than it is on SA.
