Scott, I'm really embarassed to say that I've missed the boat. I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow and have also been wiped out from the monster trading I did in the first 5-6 weeks of the year. Combined with my west coast penalty and you can see why the price was already at 20 1/2 when I woke up. I just blew the homework and didn't realize MacWorld Japan had started.

It's sad--I've been telling people that the stock wants to break twenty, but I didn't know when. And the most obvious trigger to send us there was MacWorld Japan.

This remains a stock that will move on news or the hint of news--and so far the smart move has been to fade these rallies.

Psychologically, I'd want to get in here because we could head back up to $22 or $24. However, the comment from Soup's friend about the two big houses that plan to unload at $20 would make me wonder. The volume that we rose on today wasn't as heavy as I would've expected either.

Sorry, I'm not being much help. Right now I think I'm happier with THQI which has already started its earnings run-up today. After next Wed. then I might jump into an Apple trading position.

Marc

Scott:

I'm holding through this rally; there's no telling where it'll end (is that flame bait or what? <g>).

As far as reasons for this price jump, the concerns I own have all taken off to varying degrees after lunch today. I would think LU--the second most widely-held company on the board--announcing a two-for-one split this morning (up 4 now) might have something to do with the warm fuzzy feeling in NY this afternoon.

Riding the storm out,

Mark

Looks like we've got pretty good momentum. I think we'll move up to $22 pretty soon... We'll see where the next resistance point is.

Now that the long waited breakout has happened I think investors will turn some attention to Q2 98 estimates. I'm working on some calculations for Q2 98 and will post it on MacEvolution when it's finished. So far I think Q2 looks quite good. As more investors realize this, it should give AAPL another boost.
