Thanks for the comments on CGLB. I believe that several high profile investment banks are actively pursuing the company to assist with the company's growth and commercialization of the technologies.

A very exciting company indeed!

*AV*--For those of you that have been kind enough to share your e-mail addresses with me, the following release should be of particular interest.

Keep in mind that ADPT is a very dynamic company so when one door closes or gets jammed, they blast through another door. When they set their sites on something and go after it, they almost always have a backup plan to carry out their desired business plans. This release does not necessarily mean they are not going to move forth on what was discussed. The other scenario may indeed be in the works or on hold. It does look as if they might get into a bidding war down that particular road I hypothesized about and presented. However, there is no harm in taking the path of least resistance and save a few bucks along the way<GGG>. Heck, who knows?? These guy have more cash in the bank than the US Treasury, and might proceed with the other ventures<GGG>.

Company Press Release

Adaptec and PMD Deliver New Platform-Independent,
Enterprise-Class Raid Storage Solutions

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1998--Adaptec and Pacific
Micro Data Inc. (PMD) today announced a joint working relationship to bring innovative RAID storage solutions to NT and UNIX environments.

PMD integrates Adaptec's external RAID controllers, the AEC-4312
(Ultra SCSI) and AEC-7312 (Fibre Channel), into the current MAST
Workgroup 800 system. PMD has also announced that it will leverage
Adaptec's entire range of core input/output (I/O) and RAID
technology into its next-generation development strategy that will
deliver interchangeable server-attached and network-attached
connectivity options. This announcement underscores both
companies' commitment to cooperate and innovate within the RAID
storage market and to offer customers powerful, flexible storage
alternatives that address IS concerns for performance,
scaleability, investment protection, and cost of ownership.

''Adaptec offers PMD leading-edge I/O technologies and worldwide
presence. This new relationship will strengthen PMD's position in the
RAID market and provide its distribution and OEM partners with
expanded support services,'' said Ame Gur, president of PMD.

''PMD is an innovative designer of enterprise-class RAID storage
solutions that deliver high-end features at competitive costs,'' said
Tom Marmen, vice president and general manager of Adaptec's enterprise
solutions group. ''We are working to couple our RAID and I/O
technologies into PMD's embedded management and I/O architecture, and
will continue to deliver robust SCSI and Fibre Channel solutions to
our customers to maximize the performance, scaleability, and
reliability of their products.''

About the Products

Adaptec's external storage RAID controllers differentiate themselves
in the market because they allow users in the field to customize,
change, and upgrade their host and device interfaces using the
same RAID controller. The host interface, which can be either Ultra
SCSI (single-ended or differential) or Fibre Channel, is provided by a
field-replaceable daughterboard. This feature makes migration to newer
host technologies simple, and preserves legacy IS storage investments.

Because Adaptec also makes SCSI and Fibre Channel host adapters, users
can implement an Adaptec I/O solution on ''both ends of the wire.''

The AEC-4312 is Adaptec's enterprise class three channel SCSI-to-SCSI
external RAID controller and delivers Wide Ultra SCSI performance of
40 MB/sec per channel. Adaptec's AEC-7312 is Adaptec's Fibre
Channel-to-SCSI external RAID controller and features the
industry's fastest Fibre Channel chip, enabling it to achieve gigabit
per second throughput. The AEC-7312 three channel controller with
Fibre Channel host and two Ultra SCSI channels is capable of
supporting 15 devices per channel for a total of 30 drives.

Additional information about Adaptec's external storage controllers is
available at adaptec.com.

PMD's Workgroup 800 RAID subsystem features an embedded
network-attached storage management controller with intelligent system
monitoring, notifications via email, and SNMP and centralized Web
management for distributed RAID systems throughout the enterprise.
This eliminates the need for OS-specific device drivers and
client-side user interfaces, simplifying installation and ongoing
maintenance for fast-paced IS departments. The Workgroup 800 also
features a high-reliability cable-free internal circuit board
architecture that ensures the highest levels of data integrity and
performance. The product is available in tower or 19'' rackmount
configurations; has eight ''hot swap'' drive slots; can accommodate 9
GB and 18 GB Ultra drives; is scaleable to 288 GB using 18 GB drives;
features integrated RAID controllers; and supports RAID levels 0, 1,
0/1, 3, 4, and 5. More information about the Workgroup 800 and other
PMD products is available at pmdraid.com.

*AV*--Roll Call Everyone!!! How many IDTI, ADI, ASYT and ADPT happy campers are there out here today????<GGG>

Rumor has it that my old company has been sold and the announcement comes tomorrow and the press release going out on Friday. You know how rumors are<GG>. Well, I have acted on the rumors and have played all the combinations that are possible for the heck of it.

My feeling is that the company is being "parted" out in 2 parcels, and that a competitor Axxx or xSx might be the major contenders for the Design/Manufacturing parcel and xCx for the other piece of the pie. Why be cryptic about this??? Hey, the SEC is a nasty group to get involved in even if you do not have insider information. Everything has been meticulously pieced together by yours truly.

Stop the presses. I am going off line for a moment to retrieve a Bloomberg article from last night. I might be able to talk if it says what I beleive it says.
