AFAIK, Trump has restated his support for the existence of NATO, but is simply demanding that all parties meet their obligations under the agreement, which is what all parties must do if the agreement is to hold long-term. We cannot continue to pay for it all. We are 35 Trillion in cash debt, and well more than 120 Trillion in accrued debt. I would think, with your background, you would comprehend and support this view.Meanwhile, the war is for western culture, specifically the part about the sovereignty of countries and obviating one invading another, a standard that would be lost if he wins his battle the hard way. A massive loss compared to a relatively few bucks. Maybe we need to identify who the parties in this imagined "war" might be. And why there was no war under Trump; only after the bureaucrats regained power after the election of 2020 was stolen? Why was Trump successful in keeping the peace while Biden has failed miserably? Are you CERTAIN you have analyzed the situation correctly with this comment?Short sighted, also, the willingness of the "Russia wing of the Republican party" to cede the broader culture war to Russia. You think woke is bad? This is so far-removed from anything I can even relate to, as these things are not well-defined or at all stable in this era and shift on a moment's notice. It connotes a total lack of seriousness within society. I can't worry about these dramatic shifts within any population. I do think norms will be found and there is not as much distance as some believe between here and there. Yes, woke is bad -- but it is fading: It was a rare case of 3 standard deviations from the mean. And regression to the mean does occur, often triggered by one poorly-pondered sentence from an important figure. Certainly, a nuclear weapon will stabilize that situation.
