Christine,

Today's news is wonderful. It wasn't the strategic partnership announcement I was eagerly anticipating, but it's the next best thing. In a nutshell, CAI managed to buy itself more time (until June 1, 1998) while getting rid of two immediate problems: 1) BANX and 2) the need for additional short-term financing. CAI's ownership in CS Wireless also increased to 60%. Effectively, CAI now has a little over three months to find its strategic partner. Will such a strategic partnership be contingent upon the FCC releasing its final rules on 2-way MMDS? I don't think so. The 2-way ruling is very likely not to be released until the week of the WCA convention this July (although it could also happen anytime before or after). In any case, it should be clear sailing from here on out for the 2-way ruling. Based on all the recent events, I continue to believe that CAI must be very close to entering into a some kind of definitive agreement with a deep-pocketed potential partner. I only wish I knew who!
