WTF up if you will pardon my french

It must be really hard on one's innards to be so cynical.

Here on Earth 1 there are systems and norms and things mostly work. Early on in life I came to the notion that people are generally decent. I have never had a reason to change my view. I've been on the ground on five continents. Nothing I ever experienced on any of them has disabused me of it.

Bad things happen but they are almost always accidents or mistakes or ignorance or happenstance. Maliciousness is an anomaly. That latter may be changing but hasn't gone over the edge yet. In keeping with that, I favor Hanlon's Razor, a saying that reads: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." Having maliciousness as one's go-to explanation for things is a choice that one makes, not an inevitable condition.

Never been to France but I had two years of the language in college.
