Eric,
Now if they were up against Stormin Norman they would be whipped in short order.
Stormin' Norman first established total air superiority. Hundreds of fighters and bombers dominated the skies from the very first day of Desert Storm. Even before the ground phase started, pilots were going out on sorties only to return with full racks of bombs because they ran out of targets to hit.

Meanwhile, we can't even get F-16s to Ukraine fast enough. And even then, it's going to be nothing more than a small handful against RuZZia's entire air force, not to mention RuZZia's extensive air defense network.

Moreover, it's too bad we can't shoot down RuZZian drones and cruise missiles using F-35s like we did with Israel. Nor do we have any plans to provide Ukraine with F-35 stealth fighters, which would be VERY useful in taking out RuZZian air defenses.

But we'll see if the F-16 manages to turn the tide ever so slightly in favor of Ukraine. It DOES enable the use of a lot of American stand-off weapons, such as JDAMs, HARM, and medium-range air-to-air missiles.
