Although I favor a competitive economy the idea that it works perfectly is a simplistic myth no different than the myth that communism can create utopia. The US highway system made us all a hell of a lot of money. Bridges. Unrestrained turds float to the top in either system... feudalism child labor cops beating unionists monopolies and trusts dumping toxic waste in the neighbors yard the list of unfair immoral tactics is endless. Denial and rationalization is embedded in our system, for example, the idea that unions are commies instead of what they really are: employees in a free market just trying to maximize the value of their product.
