Cable Modems vs. ADSL:

From: investor1.com

Connection Selection

There almost seems to be as many was to be connected to the Internet,
as their are Internet Service Providers. New technology keeps
pushing the benchmark up, from 9.6k to 14.4k and upward. Today, the
most common personal connection is a 28.8k modem. Then the next
logical step would be a 52k modem, or is it? Many new options have
become available from the cable and telephone giants, such as BCTel's
ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) phone lines and (in Canada)
the Rogers / Shaw WAVE cable modem. Lets chart the actual performance
of these new options versus the current technology.

Connection Speed (in Megabytes)
28.8 0.288
56k 0.056
ISDN 0.064 to 0.128
Cable (WAVE) Modem 1.5 to 3.0
ADSL 1.0 to 4.0
T1 1.54
T3 45.0
OC3 155.0

With the WAVE cable connection, you get a 24 hour on line connection
to the Internet that you never have to turn off, and you won't tie
up an expensive phone line. That also means no busy signals!

The ADSL connection offers potentially greater speeds than its cable
counter-part, but the major technical limitation with ADSL is
distance. Customers who live more than four kilometres from the
nearest telephone switching office may not be able to take advantage
of ADSL technology. That's because ADSL has only enough power to
transmit data very quickly through copper wires over a limited
distance.

Until ADSL lines improve, the best choice for personal and most small
business use is the Cable WAVE Modem.

Leman,
thanks. I think you are talking about LARS. Unfortunately, I believe I have no free money right now.
Like Peter Lynch said, you cannot kiss all the girls, and I already had two very romantic dates with LARS. Have got to be content in life...
I wish you good luck, the company should do well.
ciao Alfredo
