Nobody has time to investigate those races & local newspapers are dying. Nobody except rich people, which is why toxic industries locate in poor neighborhoods. Its why hookers weren't allowed to walk the streets in Brentwood. Its why streets in upper class neighborhoods are maintained better. NIMBYism is real. More people know Presidential candidates. Slightly less their senator. Less representatives. More know their governor. Less state senators. Less state representatives. One reason MAGA targets school boards etc. Not saying we shouldn't have local, but you're wrong about oversight.
