Some Special Agents of the IRS have to carry guns because of the nature of their jobs. But I've been in 100s of meetings with Revenue Agents, Revenue Officers, and Special Agents, and never once have I seen one carrying any kind of weapon. IIRC only Special Agents are normally authorized to carry a weapon.
