The difference between the estimate FY #s and actual may have something to do with the basic vs diluted thing. After all they beat each Q by at least a nickel, so how could they have missed the year? Dave For example this Q basic was .89 vs the .81 so thats .08 right in this Q

Michael: whose estimates are you referring to here???? Here is what I found: Dell Fiscal 98 earnings Actual Average Consensus Estimates Basic Diluted. ------------------------------------------------------------- $2.87 $2.56 Zacks $2.57 I/B/E/S $2.57 S & P $2.54 I don't know the consensus estimates are basic or diluted,looks like diluted,but can't say. I don't have First Call's estimate.
