Tech is cyclical and the focus shifts. If you are not re-training every 3 years you are simply irrelevant. It is a " devil take the hind most business". AI researchers are being paid as much as $500,000 in salaries now. It won't last long as most AI tech is focusing on a handful of models right now and research takes time in the ordrr of years and decades not months. Most tech firms can't wait that long and if lucky has a 5 year ramp. No one cares a out autonomous driving now but it was the hot tech a few years ago. Will Elon change that, I doubt it. That tech is in the "show me" phase and has little chance in the United States due to regulation.
