That's a fairly big increase for what Main is and already pays out + the special.

"I'm hesitant to think of a BDC as a core holding, but MAIN is one for sure."

I agree..... although OBDC is also making a strong case to be a Core Holding
in my Portfolio, alongside MAIN. OBDC reports tomorrow, after the Market closes.
I like holding both. The laggard of my 3 BDCs has been ARCC, but staying patient with it.

I've owned MAIN for over 10 years, ARCC for over 5+ and added HTGC, CSWC and OCSL a few years ago. MAIN has been fantastic, ARCC has been solid, HTGC and CSWC have really run up whereas OCSL has been mediocre. Having said that, I own them for the income and they have all produced. HTGC and CSWC has really run up in price so while I could sell them and capture the capital gains (in a ROTH), I would want to replace the income. Not sure how to do that at the moment.

RE: I'm hesitant to think of a BDC as a core holding, but MAIN is one for sure.

I consider MAIN a core holding for me. It's the only BDC I consider as such. The only REIT I have as a core holding is O.
