There was an oral agreement between the United States and Gorbachev not to expand NATO East. Gorbachev won a Nobel Peace Prize for re-uniting Germany. Germany started both ww1 and ww2. Putin did not attend his funeral, he just died in 2022. Putin, a former KGB officer and head, is well aware of the games played by the spy agencies. Yes, it’s a game and he will play it further, a game with a possibility of conventional war between Russia, whoever else Russia can sign up, and NATO. I don’t think China will sign up.
