E!

I am not sure what is involved but I believe they need at least .25 micron fabs and they are working at .3 and.35. Also new test equipment for specialized chips do not come cheap but maybe it will continue to help my other stock Teradyne.<g>

I am sure they are looking at 6 months to a year before they can ramp up to any significant competition and that assumes that have customers lined up to give them business over LSI and current competitors.

Probably Shane can help us out with this one...I am not very good with sorting at the fundamentals between competitors.

E! Scratch those Korean fabs, IMHO.. Hard to believe they could be any competition for LSI or any of the other ASIC's.. Isn't there a bit of design engineering involved before they start slapping ASICs on the market?.. BTW, the ASICs require more complex masks than DRAM... in which case, perhaps you should grab some DPMI..they have a Korean mask plant that could cover anything down to .25.. but DPMI came down from 72 to 26 because they lost ten cents in currency translation on the Korean plant (!!) ((reducing projected year-ahead earnings from $2.40 to $2.30)).. So if the Korean fabs can raise the capital to purchase a few items from my AMAT and TER (or David's TER), then we should all buy DPMI, as their mask sales will jump over previous projections.... And if they were worth 72 before...hmmmmmm do I hold enough DPMI?? <g> TSO
