PooTin replaces Sergay Shoigu as RuZZia's offense minister: Why has Putin removed ally Sergei Shoigu as Russia's defence minister? (BBC) Sergay isn't likely to fall out of a tall building, however. He's been moved "laterally" and made head of RuZZia's Security Council. Meanwhile, RuZZia's offense minister has been replaced by an economist, presumably because PooTin wants to fully transition RuZZia into a permanent war economy. It still doesn't make sense to me, though. Economists are bean counters. Economists are about creating wealth. Economists are about consumption, production, and market trends. Why put an economist at the head of your ministry of offense? The only explanation that makes any sense whatsoever is that PooTin is shuffling leadership positions again so that no one person can amass any base of power. Even PooTin's loyalists aren't immune to such moves. Sergay in particular has remained at his position for far too long, given how poorly RuZZia's military has performed in PooTin's war of choice, so you know he's one of PooTin's most favored loyalists. Will this affect RuZZia's performance in the war against Ukraine? Is this a good thing or bad thing from Ukraine's POV? My view is that this changes nothing. All it does is fit into PooTin's pattern of self-preservation. Even if everything starts to fall apart, PooTin can rest assured that there will be no coup d'etat. Not even after RuZZia surpasses the half million dead or maimed milestone at breakneck speeds: Russia Suffers Highest Daily Casualties of War So Far: Kyiv (Newsweek) 1,740 soldiers in one day. Amazing. All to feed PooTin ego. All to feed the illusion that RuZZia can do this forever. Tenchusatsu
