Yeadon, I have had this stock a LONG LONG time. The same old tune has been playing. I don't think the board has the faintest thoughts of making money.

PR has been the same old BS but I don't think there has ever been any focus on the bottom line.

My humble opinion is board, CEO.. whatever , think they are in a ritzy business and that is sufficient.

At one time CLIX was a major threat, but they died. PCTL was another which had great ambitions only to fall like a ton of bricks.

Without any worthwhile competition, except themselves, they should be steaming ahead. Looks like I will have to sell when there is small bounce.

Steve

Hi Yeadon: I noticed some improvement from this report (http://www.infobeat.com/stories/cgi/story.cgi?id=2552969901-8b4).

Notice that although sales are not growing, I believe they have stabilized. The service business now makes up 25% of total revenues up from previous quarters. The margins on the service business are good, now about 30%. R&D expenses have been reduced and I guess I would like to see more $'s spent here. Other operating expenses seem in line.

My real concern is not with VTEL the specific company but with the industry in general. The technology is changing very fast. VTEL's management's plan is unclear to me. The company can not just continue to wait for the market to come to them. I believe they can start to show increased sales if they develop a business plan that grows their service sales business.

VTEL may even want to explore other new markets in the telecommunication industry. Perhaps a division that develops products for the Internet for both corporate and small business accounts. There are many profitable opportunities out there. I hope our management is exploring some of them.

EKS

P.S. It looks like our company is already showing their leadership with five new directors (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/980218/tx_vtel_pe_1.html)

...I do like the names and experience...especially Gary Alt, senior director networking systems. Hope we see a deal with XYLAN.
