"How ATT let loose of this bunch will go down in history along the same league as IBM giving the PC-OS market to Billy's MS-DOS."

Ramsey,
Bell Labs is indeed an awe-inspiring entity, but actually AT&T's management did a good thing in spinning off Lucent. Remember, LU was spun out to AT&T's shareholders, and the market has subsequently awarded Lucent's stock a multiple on earnings that is mucho mas alto than AT&T had. Thus, AT&T management did well by their shareholders with the spin-off, at least the ones smart enough to hold onto the Lucent shares.

QCOM's business may simply be too complex for Wall Street to understand. When the stock is too hard to understand, it trades at the "show-me" price.
