Sometimes I wonder if anyone in Israel monitored the events in Ukraine. By October 7, the war in Ukraine was going on for over 19 months. They had an opportunity to observe - and to draw conclusions. Among other things, they would realize that their own adversary - Iran - saved the day for Russia by selling them a large number of cheap drones (along with a license agreement to manufacture them in Russia).

They should have realized that those drones were effective - and that something important was taking place.

It took the Israelis many days - weeks, maybe - until they started mounting anti-drone protective structures over their tanks.

A few days after 10/07 there was a video making rounds - a large group of Israeli soldiers had a meeting of some sort, a few dozen of them, surrounding some officer who was taking to them. At some point, an overhead drone dropped down at them an explosive device, probably a grenade. Luckily for them, the grenade missed the group - and exploded about 6 meters from the nearest soldier. Still, quite a few of them were killed or wounded. Had the grenade fallen into the crowd, it would have been a much greater disaster.

And, had any of them kept track of the events in Ukraine, this could have been avoided.

Even now, you see videos of Israeli tanks or armored personnel carriers traveling in columns. I guess, it’s probably OK. But, it may not be OK in the near future, once their enemies have more anti tank drones and smart munitions. It won’t take long.
