VCD market is still strong. 800M Chinese are rural, 400M urban. Urban sale have slowed, rural sales are growing rapidly. Audio CD player sales are being replaced by VCD players in Chinese speaking countries. The installed base of VCD players has reached 30M units. About 26M of these in China's Mainland. A far cry from market saturation.

The only problems with VCD sales are rapid price declines and the seasonal effect in Q2.

The market, in units, almost tripled in 1997. I expect about a 50% increase in units, in 1998.

DVD is not a factor in VCD sales until the price of DVD is under $200.
