Purebull, I'm readin' this stuff and studying it and really trying to make sense of it all. I keep commin' to the conclusion this is a HUGE undertaking! When I got into the telecom stuff I had no idea! This is futuristic stuff. (or I'm dumber than a box of rocks?) We've talked about consolidation in the past. My observation FWIW is this: Companies are teaming up in different areas of the world and running tests on different types of environments,quality of copper wire, population densities, and distances, along with who knows what other types of combinations of unknown variables. To actually make this concept of ADSL, HDSL, RADSL, XDSL and whatever other combination of acronyms there are, to work. These people and companies are all taking and combining, what they each do best, and attempting to marry their equipment with the equipment of other companies that they feel will best enhance their chances of getting a piece of the GLOBAL business. In reading all this information, I've decided there is no winner and there is no answer. YET!! What there is, is a GREAT DEMAND for high speed transmission of information. They all see it, and so do we or we wouldn't be investing in it. Now, Billy Gates and all the guys that depend on a product like this for their businesses to continue to grow, come along! Now, they know that the RBOCS, by themselves, are like trying to motivate DEAD people!! But Billy and the boys, are pyromaniacs and KNOW how to light fires! So they develop (THE CONSORTIUM)! What they APPEAR to have done here is, develop a marketing plan that will get the public excited about this product, AND have strategically put TIME limitations on how long they will wait for this evolution of product to happen!! Thus! Forcing the indecisive RBOCS to fish or cut bait(as the free boat ride is over/no more procrastinating!) and placing the responsibility of keeping the RBOCS moving, in the hands of the PAIR's and ADTN's!! In this way the Billy Gates' get the product they NEED to keep their businesses churning products. They have dangled the proverbial carrot in front of the XDSL, RADSL, and all the other DSL Q WEXT people to ride the RBOCS to develop the infrastructure and spend the necessary funds to make the DEMAND a REALITY! CONCLUSION: Gates and the BOYS IN THE HOOD, AKA, THE CONSORTIUM!! THESE GUYS HAVE MANAGED TO TURN A SLOW PROCESS OF EVOLUTION INTO WHAT THEY NEED!!!!! A REVOLUTION!! DEFINITION: REVOLUTION- A Radical change of any kind! Overthrow of a social system,form of government(RBOCS old way of moving slow and avoiding change), USUALLY by FORCEFUL MEANS, with ANOTHER SYSTEM(THE CONSORTIUM) taking its place!!! If this isn't Billy Gates' and THE CONSORTIUMS WAY! I haven't a clue what about REVOLUTIONS!!! * All just my honest opinion of the whole picture from a business/social structure stand point. * Sorry Purebull and all!
