I don't think Hamas has much support in America. I don't know a single person who supports Hamas. If I did I'd be surprised and condemn them. Palestinians do have support. Mostly right wing Israelis claim support for Palestinians is "support for Hamas." Propaganda. I don't even think most Palestinians support or supported Hamas. But since the rest of the world abandoned Gaza for decades and Hamas stepped in with child care and social welfare programs they were the only people who supported Gazans. Israel could easily have won over Palestinians with even a small amount of kindness... but the Israeli goal is to prevent a Palestinian state so that means taking over the West Bank and I'm sure some extremist Israelis want to eject Palestinians from Gaza to make room for Israelis. Ironically no different than Lebensraum. Humans never change much. Civilization is very slow.
