Your post prompts me to reiterate one of my permanent themes: In my experience, for what it's worth, buying and holding the stock of a quality company will overcome every other error of whatever sort (bad timing, too much margin, etc., etc.). Quality company = 1. Good record of generating cash; 2. Solid margins, ROE, and balance sheet; 3. Credible, shareholder-friendly, management 4.Good products/services, preferably (though not necessarily) market dominating. In other words, PAIR!
