Respond to of 22882 Paxlovid is like Tamiflu; ideally it is suppose to be taken immediately ( within three days) to prevent symptoms from getting worse. I took Tamiflu right away when I got the flu and it helped a lot. In my case, when I went to an urgent care in El Paso, TX on a Sunday and was first identified with Covid, the nurse practitioner told me that my symptoms would not get worse and there was no need to take Paxlovid. At the time, my head was stuffy, my throat was scratchy and I had a low grade fever of 100.7 degrees. They gave me nothing and said I would be fine. In two days, massive fatigue set in and my sore throat became very severe. I did a telehealth on Zoom with an internist and was prescribed an antibiotic for my throat, ibuprofen and an antihistamine for 7 days. It did not help and I was still testing positive. The internist next prescribed Paxlovid, another antibiotic for the throat and some cough medicine. After finishing Paxlovid, I was testing negative, but symptoms did not go away. It took 5 weeks for symptoms to go away. The worst was the massive fatigue and sore throat. I got Covid near end of February and symptoms suddenly vanished April 6 of this year. I have been fine since, back to my old self with no symptoms whatsoever. My only regret is that I did not take Paxlovid earlier. But I do think it may have helped with the contagious aspect of the disease. I continued to work out aerobically with 15 pound weights and walked a few miles a day while having covid symptoms. The exercise made me feel better. The worst thing you can do is just lay in bed all day. Oh, I did have some pains in my chest on occasion too. The whole Covid ordeal was scary and depressing. I fought hard to overcome the depression. But it became harder, the longer I had the symptoms and they weren't going away.
