Ibexx - Re: "I still remember K6 of last year.....what a let down."

I think the K6 is a credible product - certainly capable of keeping AMD in the game. By no means, however, was it first class chip.

The real disappointment with the K6 is AMD's inability to manufacture it in real volumes.

AMD bought the K6 design along with NexGEN.

I guess AMD's error was not to buy a fab capable of producing it.

Ibexx - Pertinent information from DELL's quarterly report:

"The move to the Intel Pentium II processor to run modern business and consumer applications and the latest Microsoft operating systems, including Windows NT and Windows 98, is already well underway. Dell is well positioned for this transition. As we exited fiscal 1998, Pentium II represented nearly 90 percent of Dell Dimension desktop revenues and 70 percent of OptiPlex desktop revenues. "

Ibexx,
yes, there will be some very interesting show and tell from Intel at CeBit. No hints, but I'm sure the news services will report it.
