the Maya NT port is not far behind. they could launch it anytime. how they will corelate the Maya NT launch with SGI's VisualPC launch is a question. you wouldn't want kids buying a Compaq or something ordinary to run Maya, they'll be heartbroken when they see SGI's box. A/W's bind is that 8000 seats on maintnance get Maya for free. this includes most large studios. so it's new seats they need to make any money. how many users are out there that want to spend $30K for an animation package at version 1.0 is an interesting question. SoftImage sells for $15K and Kinetic's Max for $3K.
