Hi, Jerry. We shook hands in New Jersey. Downloading. Well, begin with the Quotes-Plus Web site. Look around the pages and you will find the download area. If you have an account then you'll have access to the full 10 thousand symbols. Otherwise, with the demo, it is a small sampling of symbols.

Your browser will have to be told how to process the files after downloading. These instructions are in the manual.

It might be worthwhile to begin with the BBB site and use the 800 number to begin with. That way you'll avoid a couple of setup steps and also get to start using the data without dealing with those steps. Then, when all is running smooth, save a couple of dollars each month and set up for internet downloads at your leisure.

When you have downloaded, the software knows what to do and will automatically update your Quotes-Plus files. If there has been a holiday you probably will be asked if there was a holiday or non-trading day. That's because the software is looking out to keep you from missing a day of data.

Have fun. It is a wonderful data source.

Jerry, the download URL is

quotes-plus.com

You will need your internet userid and password, which should
be entered lower case.

You'll see files to download on the page. You can configure
the QP browser plug-in, but it doesn't do much for you and can
stop working for reasons of its own or because of your browser.

If you don't want to configure the plug-in, just click the
file. The browser should offer to open it or save it to disk
(to open it, it will probably ask you to pick an application
to open it with, unless you've installed the QP plug in).

Choose Save It To Disk. You'll get a dialog box asking where.
Navigate to the INCOMING directory under your QP data.

Before you store it, change the name in the dialog box from
the qpl extension to .zip. Or you can save the file then
change the extension.

I copy the .zip file to an archive directory before running
the database update, because the update eats the zip. I've
had to rebuild the database because NT hates me, so I want
the data around to do it with. (I'd give an F to any of my
students who ate their input, but I suppose QP's trying to
save disk space for you, to which I say, "I'll save my own
space, thanks.")

Regards

Spots

Jerry,

Go to the QP site

quotes-plus.com

You will need to supply your name and password

Click on the date(s) desired, save them to a file, I save them on my
desktop for convenience.

After download is finished, double click on each icon on the desktop and OK in the popup dialog box. This unzips the file(s).

Open the QP group window and double click on the update database icon. This will run the update.

Delete the icons on the desktop after update is complete.

You can automate the step from download to update but I do not do this so I can control each step.

Bob
