Cases.....Motherboards...ATX/NLX........ESC Technologies I spent about 8 hrs searching the web for a case for the "oddball Intel "extended" ATX" motherboards. I saw more references to the quality of the PC Power and Cooling cases and their power supplies than anything else. A typical comment..A bit pricey but worth it. The Super micro and the PC Power and Cooling cases work with the Intel extended ATX case. I emailed PC Power and Cooling twice. The first tme they responded quickly. I am still waiting for the second response, It has been more than a week. I have seen questions about a modified ATX format but have not seen anything concrete yet. I did see a new NLX format on the Intel site. Perhaps this is what everyone is talking about. After many hours on the Intel newsgroup for the LX440 motherboards I am having second thoughts. There seem to be a lot of problems. Perhaps it is only because there are a lot of boards out and the people with the problems are the ones that post. It makes one want to start with at least a barebones pre tested system. ESC Technologies I have emailed ESC twice with questions. Both times they have responded in less than 24 hrs. I find their way of doing business refreshing. The first time the answer to my question was "we don't know". At least I knew where I stood right away instead of waiting a week for a response or never getting one. I have added ESC to the list of sites I check every day as they have a nice review of the days technology.whatisnew.com I still have not yet purchased anything from them yet nor do I know anyone who has. My impressions are all from their website and their prompt response to my email. For people who want complete systems with full loads of software (DELL and Gateway types of computers) this does not seem to be that type of place. If you want quality components and "barebones" systems this outfit is worth looking into IMO. An email response from ESC Technologies follows. Regards Zeuspaul >>Hi, We configure the items we sell. If you purchase a case, motherboard, cpu, and memory, it would be assembled. We would test the assembled components before we ship to you. We would install Win95 if you purchased it with a system including a CD-Rom Drive, Hard Drive. We do not sell Win NT; we are not able to be competitive on the price. As to barebone systems, they are suggestions. You can select from any of the items we offer and we will build the system for you. We do not sell sound cards or video cards (except the ASUS card) so it would not be a complete system from us. If you have some configurations in mind or want us to offer a quote on options, let us know. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Enjoy your evening, Rod ESC Technologies <<
