the moniker goes back to a philosophical notion of tabula rasa or blank tablet, which describes my investment/life style. but when i first enter into a stock, a challenge, a discussion,... i try to put aside my biases and gather the facts. it does not mean i put aside facts and knowledge, i just try to understand the other side and other solutions. that and i graduated with a degree in philosophy. From Everyman to Plato in one bounding leap. I'm glad I asked. Your tabula rasa is in keeping with a quote from Dag Hammarskjold's Markings I wrote to a friend tonight: "Night is drawing nigh Each day the first day: each day a life. Each morning we must hold out the chalice of our being to receive, to carry, and give back. It must be held out empty --- for the past must only be reflected in its polish, its shape, its capacity. . . ." The metaphor of the empty chalice showing DH's comment, "We cannot afford to forget any experience, not even the most painful," wasn't meant to suggest one should hold memories in a way that divides but as a means of learning from and not repeating mistakes. Applicable to the market as well. Monikers versus "real" names, another fascinating topic. As is the electronic persona versus the one sitting here tapping the keyboard. But it's late. Later -- Pat
