I agree with your view too, big pharma is evil and greedy. However, Covid vaccines were developed around the world to fight Covid, not just by US greedy big pharma, and they worked with varying efficiency. You could get a standard (anti flu like) vaccine for COVID too, but these were quickly discarded due to low efficiency. MRNA is a new technology that shows exceptional promise for personalized cancer vaccines. Covid vaccines had to be rushed to market.
