The Deadpool:

More than all losses since World War II - The Economist calculated Russia's casualties (MSN)

How many Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine? (The Economist, paywalled)

The Economist has a wide-ranging estimate of RuZZian casualties (dead or wounded): 462K to 728K.

Meanwhile, Mediazona and Meduza (two independent Russian (no-Z) media outlets) estimate the number of dead RuZZians somewhere between 100K and 140K.

Again, this aligns pretty well with my own estimates (source: Trust Me Bro):
  • RuZZian casualties (dead or wounded): 550K
  • RuZZian deaths: 138K (assuming a wounded-to-killed ratio of 3:1)
  • Ukrainian casualties (dead or wounded): 230K
  • Ukrainian deaths: 33K (assuming a wounded-to-killed ratio of 6:1)

I'll decide later whether to get past The Economist's paywall, since the article is supposed to come with a wealth of data including charts, sources, and other details which with I can confirm my own estimates.

As usual, the truth may be far off from the figures above. However, these figures coincide very well with everything else that is going on, including Ukraine's manpower shortages and why it's an issue for them but not RuZZia.
