Under the network contract, IBM, the world's largest computer company, said it will construct a global network for Texas-based oil services company Halliburton Co (NYSE:HAL) that will stretch across more than 50 countries and provide access to corporate research, data and e-mail to more than 26,000 employees. Other services IBM said it would provide under the contract include network management, e-mail administration, service desk support and Internet services, including hosting a Web site for Halliburton. IBM said it also won a multi-year contract to provide data center management, voice and data communications management and other services to Massachusetts-based utility Commonwealth Energy System (NYSE:CES). IBM did not disclose terms of either contract.
