Pete, I'm really relieved to hear that you appreciate Escher. The 1960s surrealists embraced him and tried to claim him as one of them. In some of the early posts on the HTML thread here at SI, there are URLs for clip art (.gif, .jpg) sites, some of which were animated. These URLs were posted a long time ago and may no longer be valid URLs. The only way to find out is to go to the sites. The best way to keep a graphic or music file in your profile is to download it to your own hard disk or server, rather than merely provide a link to the server on which it resides. There are many negatives to linking to another's server to load their graphics or music to your site or SI profile page each time that page is loaded, including the possibility that that server will cease to exist and your graphics and music will be gone, never to return. Here comes the part I hesitate to bring up, but . . . not everyone accesses SI in graphics or with Javascript enabled or with a soundcard. Heck, some of us still access SI with Unix or other operating systems. Here's the rub! Some graphic- and music-intensive personal profiles here at SI can go into an endless loop, refuse to load, or crash the computer attempting to access the profile. When that happens, we of the "lesser" systems cannot access your profile page to view your wonderful and inspired creations, and we cannot send you E-mail. You might even have missed E-mail from Michael Anthony and never know it. But, don't give up! There is hope. My solution? Keep your SI profile simple but design a personal webpage with all the bells and whistles you like. Provide a link to your webpage on your SI profile. Everybody's happy. And Michael Anthony will be able to send you E-mail. Holly
