The Investor may take the Investment (Margin Account, for instance) Interest on Sch A, line 13 after attaching form 4952.
.
Other expenses, like management fees (but not commissions), computer internet fees, IBD & WSJ subscriptions, etc go on line 22, subject as you say to the 2% AGI limitation.

Then all of Sch A is subject to the 3% AGI limitation if your AGI is high enough! ($121,200 for marrieds)
