bw, It is the uncertainty about oil prices, extended into uncertainty about future drilling activity that has been keeping a lid on the drilling stocks. This is what provides the buying opportunities that many will later kick themselves for not participating in. Although they can have big impact on stock prices, daily swings in crude oil prices have relatively little to do with drilling activity going forward. Notice that for all the negativity, Amoco announced a major contract extension with RIG. Instead of cutting back, they are opting for more. As Deep Throat once advised, "Follow the money". Baird
