Scan-Optics Announces Changes in Employee Composition With Its Strategy to Provide
'Solutions at Work'

MANCHESTER, Conn., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- SCAN-OPTICS, INC. (Nasdaq: SOCR - news) today announced that it will continue to
shift its focus from the hardware manufacturing production line to growing its software and professional services organization. The
Company reported that it will release 33 of its hardware and manufacturing employees today, but in 1998 will expand its software and
professional services organization by more than 25%, as well as add resources in the areas of Customer Service and Sales and Marketing.
The Company noted that the overall results of this shift in focus will reduce total manpower by 10% and enable Scan-Optics to be more
responsive in the marketplace.

A little bounce so far today based on news.
Let's hope the market revises its view of scan optics and the stock price slide stops here.
This company has got to be worth at least $6.
