Re Feb calls:

What are we looking at.??.
A determined CEO who has said Dell will surpass CPQ by late 2000/
A company whose best preformance comes when times are tough and
prices are dropping..
A company who has built 5 acres(230,000 ft) of new sales/adminstration building in Round rock to be occupied in "early 1998"
A company who has bought/leased 570 acres in Austin for new manufacturing facilities, and is considering buying an airport.
A company who had 22 mil shares shorted in January, and those people are now covering because they dont want to to pay $70'share after the Mar6 th split.
This means I can't help you decide, as I have the same problem.
And I wish I had a lot more of those problems....

Re Feb calls:
Here is the scene as I picture it.
Daytraders who bought early this morning at $119 1/2 normally would be selling now at 122, but today some may go for the gold
on the good news and not sell all of it.
Many are buying solely for the split which occurs within
two weeks and will hold till then.
There will still be some short covering tomorrow, but not too much unless they are dumber than expected!
Overall, the MM's will try to retain the stock rather than take profits.(Good future)
So I don't expect to see Dell at less than say 120 1/2
in the next few days.
My plan is to sell the feb calls and buy Dell leaps,
which can be done any time between now and Friday because if the calls are down then the leaps cost less, or vise-versa.
So the timing is not too important
