Mike, you worry-wart! Mighty Q has the future president of the USA as their pal. He's on their web site. He presents them with medals of technology. He helps get Richard Bliss released. For political firepower that he can bring to bear, watch Iraq for a week or two.

BrianH, Brent Scowcroft is the guy on the board you mentioned.

Also, Darpa didn't invent CDMA though they might have built the first technology [invent is a slippery word really and technology is multitudes of development and invention]. Some guy back in 1948 came up with the maths and how to. And Fourier Analysis was invented way before that and was what led me to the idea of encoded radio signals back in 1989. Qualcomm is the main developer of CDMA if you take a utilitarianism approach and fortunately they have IPR backed by Al Gore and USA firepower.

The pathetic European statist thieving types who wish to steal the technology and moaning about 2% to 5% royalties can jump in the lake. Or invent their own CDMA as Ericsson claims they will do. Hahahaha! What a joke all this is. What a joke Qualcomm's price is = don't panic because some turkeys panic over Korean speculators getting their comeuppance. Qualcomm and Globalstar are in the box seat.

Of course military will buy Globalstar service. Probably Iraq won't as they might find the phone go dead at a critical juncture. But few if any, including the USA, are in a position to compete with commercial enterprise these days. They might get special codes in their phones, but they'll need the best phones and those are Globalstar.

Did you see the New Zealand Hercules try to take off for Iraq? They lost an engine and had to go back for repairs in front of all the tv cameras and politicians. We only had the one plane. But man, when we get near Iraq Saddam is going to be scared.
