WSJ Y2K ADVERTISING SUPPLEMENT

In todays WSJ there is an 8 page insert devoted to ads from 51 Y2K solution providers. Peter De Jaeger also has an excellent column emphasizing the need for urgency by companies still not aggressively working on the problem. Most of the ads are from small firms I know little about.Large ads were from CPWR,CAP gemini,TAVA,Team SAP,and DMR Consulting Group. It is also noteworthy that some of the biggest Y2K players did not run ads. This includes IBM,UIS,KEA,VIAS,CHRZ,and IMRS. Other smaller niche players not advertising that come to mind include DDIM,MIFGY,SEEC,PTUS,DSYS,ZITL,SYNT,MAST.TAVA was notable as the only factory floor solution provider.I FIND IT IRONIC THAT WSJ PROFITED FROM Y2K AS YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW FROM READING THE PAPER THAT WE COULD FACE A CRISIS THAT MAY CRIPPLE MANY BUSINESSES AND EVEN TRIGGER A WORLD WIDE RECESSION.One ad I was surprised to read was from a Fidelity Investments subsidiary Fidelity Technology solutionsthat calims expertise in finding Y2k problems in client server environments. They claim their software is now in use on desktops throuout Fidelity. I guess I can relax about my account on 1/1/00.
