>> Some women elect not to have children....... so they're a cat lady?

It is okay. We're all adults here. People have, and take on, various attitudes during life. At least, most of us do.

LMK if he says it again and I'll get onto him about it.

This is a real line of demarcation for how weak our society has become. JD Vance was making a general statement about how having children materially alters how one views the world and drastically refocuses one’s priorities. Anyone taking his words to be some kind of direct attack on them or as an attack on women unable to have children is just desperate to be a victim.

I’m a 39 year old man. I don’t have children. My lifelong best friend since I was 12 years old has a 3 year old and a 6 month old. I’m the godfather of the 3yo. Just having that tangential relationship with a child has completely changed my perspective on the world.

Being able to view the world through the lens of a parent is extremely important and necessary for a leader. Nearly 70% of Americans have children. If your leader is unable to view the world or understand the priorities of 70% of the population - that’s a major problem.

You don’t have to like what JD Vance said, but his point is absolutely valid.
