Busch_Man: Are mutual funds subject to the new tax law - classifying long term vs short term investments and taxing respective cap gains at different rates? (what was the time frame? 18 months?) That may introduce a new "cycle" into the market, overlaying bear/bull markets by the time-discriminating window. This effect may be especially pronounced for high-flyers (like YHOO) who's (stock price)growth flattens out. ie investors sitting on large %gains have an additional incentive to hold on to their stock a little longer.
