Well, I can only refer back to my original post ------>

Message 34755981

.... where INVESTOPEDIA clearly stated that "the value of a company's net tangible assets may also be referred to as its book value".
It then defined "book value" of a business as "Total Assets - Total Liabilities".
That, in turn, is synonymous with "Total Shareholders Equity" on the Balance Sheet.

That's why I further suggested that maybe INVESTOPEDIA and Perplexity AI should have a "Chat" and resolve their apparent differences regarding their definition of Net Tangible Assets {;-)

Re: BV vs Tangible Assets

I looked at several Youtube videos where Buffett talks specifically about a company's tangible assets. It's interesting to hear his take on this especially as he explains how Goodwill s/d really just be looked at a 'zero' value when evaluating the future performance of the company.

He goes on to say that Goodwill & Intangible assets is the cost you have to pay to own the business. If you paid too much then you paid too much Goodwill.

You need to look at both.

-----------------------------------------------------

He discussed in one video his See's Candy business and how well it performed but is/was very difficult to scale. The return on it's tangible assets did extremely well (and continues to do well).

FWIW, I found it interesting Buffets take on owning tangible assets during inflationary periods. Got me thinking about what I want to own during periods of Stagflation. Buffet says owning land & real-estate work well as well as company's like See's Candy.
