What is the process for changing a board's moderator when the moderator dies?

Two of the top 10 Political boards here are listed in their headers as being moderated by people who are also listed on SI's Ad Astra board as being deceased.

In total, those two deceased individuals are still listed as moderating a total of 16 boards.

I suppose, eventually, as SI's users continue to age and die, all SI's boards will end up being moderated by dead people, unless you establish a process to select and name their successors.

Is it possible to make a private section where each moderator can list the names of people they'd like to have succeed them, if and when they die?

That way, you could go through their list, contact the nominees in the order listed, and have a successor moderator who was selected by the departed moderator.

If none of the deceased moderator's nominees accept the moderator position, the board can be archived and locked.

That might be better than allowing people who have acquired the login credentials of deceased moderators to log in as, and act "on behalf" of the deceased.

I see 4 recent messages on this board, personally attacking me.

The new, improved Heywood40 does not make or respond to personal attacks, but will bring them to admin's attention when they occur.
