One of the reasons large fabrics are not popular is that it takes alot of very expensive ports end of feeding eachother on switches, if you think about putting four switches talking to eachother you lose three ports per switch and instead of having 64 ports you have 52 ports and at $2500 list those 12 ports cost you $30K.. YIKES!!

The loop saturation level is obviously based on application, but more than three or four CPU's hitting a couple of Disk Arrays and the loop is done. Now on the other hand a couple of arrays connected to a loop then connected to a switched port seems to work better.
