Hi Johnny,

I carry about 30% cash in my account.

I've had 2 CD's called in the last 30 days.

Our news media pretends that the Fed has control of the rates, but from what I've seen the Fed trails the market rates.

On the 2 year Treasury, the going rate for the last several months has been 4.70 yield.

It has dropped to 4.3ish (down about 30 basis points)
.
Today Powell is talking strong, but the market has already moved down more than the 25 basis point cut expected in September.

The only CD's paying close to 5 % are 30 and 60 day CD's and the 2 year Treasurys to buy on the secondary market are all below 5.0%.

We're watching those who parked their money at 5% plus in CD's and Treasuries learning they are no longer available with zero risk of market change.

There now is a rush to buy equities (with greater risk factor) for a 6 % yield becoming hard to find. My fixed income preferred shares have been going up and are approaching Par at $25.00, after declining substantially during the last few years rise in rates.

Yields have popped up a few points today.Powell's talking hawkish.

Once the world realizes that interest rates have topped and are in decline, I'm thinking that instruments like preferred shares pricing will go up approaching closer to par. I bought 2000 Preferred shares of T pr-A Based on Par it pays 5%) today and it took 47 partial fills to complete! prices ranged from $20.79 to $20.83. They filled 5 or 19 shares at a time. Collectively I locked in a 6 % qualified dividend yield max tax rate of 20%.

Much of the world is quietly clamoring once again for yield that is considered safe.

The guaranteed safe vehicles are quickly disappearing and or already gone.

It s a bull market in equities!

The inevitable lower rates will boost equities. I think the smart money knows this and are adjusting portfolios accordingly.

JMHO
