That is certainly one way of looking at it. However, I think Trump is trying to bring out that Brenda is portraying herself as Indian when it suits her purpose and Black when it suits another purpose, in particular, when she is campaigning for Black votes. I don't see anything wrong in Brenda doing that since she is part Indian and part Black, or Jamaican. There is nothing wrong in embracing all aspects of one's ethnicity and exploiting that to win voters. I do think Trump has a problem understanding multi-ethnic personality types.
