I read a lot of Durant's stuff in a former life. I ran across this quote and I think it applies right here, right now, in this part of the 21 st century perhaps even more that it did when he wrote it. I fear we may disregard his advice this time around but I hope not.

"Continue to express your dissent and your needs, but remember to remain civilized, for you

will sorely miss civilization if it is sacrificed in the turbulence of change."
