The retirement account is $2.3 million and my expected expenses are between $150k and $175k. But it is very hard to know how many unexpected expenses are going to arise in the next few years. I can foresee the need for major repairs to the house, a wedding that needs to be paid for, excessive health insurance costs for me or my husband (I've already had cancer once), etc. That is what is making the near term expense prediction so difficult.

My social security at age 62 is $30,744 and at age 67 is $44,148. My retirement account is already at a 4.9 percent yield, so unfortunately, I don't think a 5 percent yield will be enough.
